SPOTLIGHT ON LAURIE KILGORE”

Nesin Laurie Kilgore crop  Kilgore, who has a Master’s Degree in Studio Art with a focus in Painting from SUNY New Paltz, has been creating art for 15 years. Laurie has participated in      many group exhibitions across the region including Poughkeepsie, the Catskill Art Society, Basha Kill Vineyard’s Art Among the Vines, and the Tivoli Artists  Gallery. Her work can also be seen around Sullivan County as public outdoor murals, signs and outdoor paintings for local businesses, landmarks and  organizations.  These include Sullivan Renaissance Projects, Town of Thompson Park, Rock Hill Business Association and the Sullivan County Historical Society  & Museum in Hurleyville.

 

Nesin students, both adults and children, will learn a foundational understanding of color theory and color mixing which will be applied to their watercolor  techniques.  The final series of classes will be held on location at the Basha Kill to enable students to create works based on their observation of the surrounding  nature.

The Basha Kill Art Class will be held at the Nesin Theatre for the Performing Arts at 22 St. John St., Monticello for children ages 7 and up on April 26th and May  3rd from 5 to 6:30, April 27th and May 4th from 4 to 5:30 and at the Basha Kill April 30th from 11:30 to 1 with a rain date of May 1st. Tuition is $50. The Adult’s  Class dates are April 27th and May 4th from 6 to 7 pm at the Nesin Theatre and April 30th from 1 to 4 pm at the Basha Kill with a rain date of May 1st. Tuition is  $50.

Kilgore offers Creative Visual Art Classes a Children’s Art Grades K-5 and Drawing, Painting and Mixed Media for Grades 6-10. The dates for the youngsters at the Nesin Theatre are Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 from April 6th to May 18th with a final production on May 21st . for Children’s Art classes Tuesdays from 5 to 6:30pm at the Nesin Theatre from April 5th to May 17th and for Drawing, Painting and Mixed Media. Tuition is $50 for the eight week session and includes a Basha Kill Art Class.

The Art Class II dates are Saturdays from 11:30 to 1pm from April 9th to May 21st at a location to be announced. Tuition is $50 which includes a Basha Kill Art Class.
