Dance with Jennifer VanEtten

Beginning Saturday, January 12, 2019

Jennifer started on her path as a professional modern dancer by attending the dance curriculum at SUNY Orange in Middletown, New York in 1989. After two years, Jennifer left the program to study at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in Manhattan, New York.

After six months, Jennifer was accepted into the prestigious Martha Graham Teacher Training Program. This program trains the dancer in all aspects of modern dance performance, stage technique, costume design, lighting and many other details related to the technique. While attending the program, Jennifer was asked to become the assistant to the director of the Martha Graham Teen Dance Program. After a year, Jennifer was promoted to direct the Martha Graham Teen Dance Program.

While teaching at Martha Graham, Jennifer was introduced to Mary Anthony, a world renowned modern dancer. Ms. Anthony asked Jennifer to join the Mary Anthony Dance Theater in 1997. Jennifer studied and performed with the company until 2002. She currently own and operate the Pilates Body studio in Monticello.

Classical Creative Dance: Pre-K- Grade 4                         Meets Saturday, 11:00-11:45am 

Experience the world of classical modern dance emphasizing movement, shapes and bringing choreography to music. Dress for the class is black leotard and black tights. 


Classical Modern Dance: Grades 5 and up                       Meets Saturday 12:00-12:45pm 

Work in the style of Martha Graham and Mary Anthony. Learn basic classical modern dance technique and choreography in the style of Martha Graham and Mary Anthony.


Dance Company: By invitation                                             Meets Saturday 12:45-1:30pm

The Dance Company is for serious dance students – students are selected by invitation. Students earn advanced classical modern dance technique and create their own choreography in the style of Martha Graham and Mary Anthony. This is the premier group for community outreach performances.
