Year Round Programs

The purpose of the program is to provide students regular private lessons with Performing Artists who have a commitment to Music Education and students. Students will perform as soloists and in ensembles in the Winter and Spring Integrated Arts production and on the AYM Evaluation recital as well as  in Community Outreach Performances. LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE. (Enrollment for this program is closed for the 2018-2019 year)


New Students – Please complete a Class Registration for Chorus, Dance and Visual Arts and pay tuition online and bring form in person to first class, January 12, 2019!

Young Children’s Chorus: (YCC) Pre-K- Grade 4                                                                                                                             Meets Saturday 10:15-11:00am

Children work on basic music skills such as singing in tune and keeping a steady beat. Children sing a wide variety of folk songs, game songs and beginning choral literature.

Treble Makers Chorus: (TMC) Grades 5 and up                                                                                                                       Meets Saturday 11:00am-12:00pm

Students work on vocal skill building such as breath control, improving tone quality, and vowel modification as well as how to project the voice. Students are introduced to beginning and intermediate choral literature.


Honors Chorus: Grades 7-10                                                                                                                                                        Meets Saturday 12:00pm-12:45pm

Students are selected by audition. Students continue to work on building vocal and musicianship skills and are exposed to more advanced choral literature. This is the premier group for community outreach performances.

Classical Creative Dance for Grades Pre-K-4                                                                                                                                     Meets Saturday 11:00-11:45am

Emphasizing movement, shapes and bringing choreography to music. Students will begin to experience the world of classical modern dance through beginner techniques with the goal of an April performance and a December performance.


Classical Modern Dance for Grades 5-12                                                                                                                                      Meets Saturday 12:00-12:45pm

Modern dance; working in the style of Martha Graham and Mary Anthony.  Students will learn basic classical modern dance technique and choreography culminating in a performance in December and April.


Dance Company: By invitation                                                                                                                                                   Meets Saturday 12:45am-1:30pm

The Dance Company is for serious dance students – students are selected by invitation. Students earn advanced classical modern dance technique and create their own choreography in the style of Martha Graham and Mary Anthony. This is the premier group for community outreach performances.

Children’s Arts & CraftsGrades K-5                                                                                                                                                 Meets Saturday 9:30-10:15am

Students will create a variety of different Art projects while learning techniques in painting, drawing, sculpture and mixed media. They will learn about different artists and will gain an appreciation for the work they create. This is a fun and creative class in which students will be exposed to creating art using various materials.


Drawing, Painting and Mixed Media-Grades 6-10                                                                                                                   Meets Saturday 10:15-11:00am

Students will learn different techniques in drawing and painting, with a focus on creating Art from observation.   They will learn about different artists and will gain an appreciation for the work they create. Students will keep a sketchbook in which they can work out their ideas, and explore different techniques in using drawing and painting tools. Bring either an art smock, old shirt so that they don’t ruin their good school clothes. Location: Nesin Theatre 22 St John Street Monticello, NY


NEW! Stage Craft: This program is part of the visiting teaching artists series. Students learn the essentials of what goes on behind the scenes. Workshops are scheduled periodically throughout the year. Students can utilize their acquired skills in NCA events.


Summer Programs

Summer Music Academy: August 20-24, 2018 Monticello High School


The Summer Music Academy is a weeklong intensive designed to raise performance level and increase the enjoyment of their personal music making. SMA provides private lessons, small group theory classes and ensemble experiences. Students will perform as soloists and in ensembles along side the faculty in the culminating recital. Students will have their original compositions performed by the faculty. The faculty holds degrees from Juilliard School, Cleveland Institute, Manhattan School of Music and performs regularly with (New Haven Symphony, Stamford Symphony and The New York Philharmonic)

Summer Visual Arts Institute: August 20-24, 2018 Monticello High School


The Nesin Cultural Arts Summer Intensive Visual Arts Institute is a 5 day intensive focused on working through artistic ideas, creating and keeping a sketchbook and developing artistic technique. Students learn different drawing, painting and sculpture techniques.  Students will work with instructors Laurie Kilgore, Chris Kilgore and Stephany Lopez.
